Thirukkural-English-Translation-Dataset

The Tirukkural or Thirukkural (literally Sacred Verses), or shortly the Kural, is a classic Tamil Sangam literature consisting of 1330 couplets or kurals, dealing with the everyday virtues of an individual. Considered as chef d'oeuvre of both Indian and world literature, the Tirukkural is one of the most important works in the Tamil language.

The English translations for this dataset have been partly gleaned from thirukkural133 wordpress and Project Madurai.

About

This repo contains three files.

Thirukural_Books_Eng.txt contains the English translation of the three Thirukural books.
Thirukural_Chapters_Eng.txt contains the English translation of all 133 chapters of the Thirukural.
Thirukural_Eng.txt contains the English translation of all 1330 Kural couplets with each line in the file containing a couplet. In this file individual lines in the couplet are concatenated into one using '$' as the delimiter for convenience.
